Japan reports increased visitor numbers from Taiwan and South Korea

Japan National Tourism Organisation reportedly the following visitor numbers from Taiwan and South Korea to Japan in Nov-2010 (Nikkan Koku, 28-Dec-2010):

  • From Korea: 197,200 visitors, +51.3% year-on-year in Nov-2010. Passenger numbers in the 11 months to Nov-2010 increased 58.8% year-on-year. Major factors to the increase are the large increase of services between Japan and Korea since Mar-2010, the effect of the Visit Japan Campaign and the economic recovery;
  • From Taiwan: 89,400 visitors, a 4.8% year-on-year increase. Passenger numbers increased 25.5% in the Jan-2010 to Dec-2010 period. Major factors for the increase included the recovery of economy, the effect of the Visit Japan Campaign, effect of advertisement campaign featuring popular Japanese singing group "Arashi" and inauguration of direct services between Haneda and Matuyama in Oct-2010.
