Japan Airlines LCC subsidiary to focus on developing long haul connections for North Asian market

Japan Airlines (JAL) VP products and services planning Akira Mitsumasu, speaking at the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit, stated (09-Nov-2018) "We have a partnership with Jetstar Japan which is focused on East Asian routes, so we'll look to low cost long haul expansion… We'll develop a product that will fit North Asia". As previously reported by CAPA, JAL chairman Yoshiharu Ueki the carrier's planned LCC subsidiary, TBL Co Ltd, will offer JAL's service for a lower price. Mr Ueki said: "We want to make an LCC that is different, we don't want passengers to experience the usual discomforts of LCCs". TBL is due to launch in 2020.
