Iraqi Airways to resume Baghdad-Damascus service after eight years

Iraqi Airways, via its official Twitter account, stated (16-May-2019) it plans to resume weekly Baghdad-Damascus service. The carrier suspended the service in Dec-2011 due to conflict in Syria. Iraqi Airways spokesperson Layth Al-Rubaie stated the resumption of Baghdad-Damascus service is "important" for bilateral trade, tourism and "the size of the Iraqi community living in Syria" (Arab News/Gulf Today/RFI, 16-May-2019).
