Iranian Government wants to see a 50:50 split between owned and leased aircraft

Iran Deputy Minister of Roads & Urban Development Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan, at the CAPA Iran Aviation Finance Summit, reported (18-Sep-2016) that the Iranian Government wants to see a 50:50 split between aircraft owned by the airlines or the Ministry, and aircraft leased from international lessors. Operating leases will help Iranian airlines meet their objectives in terms of acquiring new aircraft. Mr Kashan noted that it is not just aircraft availability that limits Iranian carriers, but also a lack of trained and qualified staff. Wet leasing could provide an alternative to help relieve this problem.
