Iran Air notes that transit traffic in Iran is 'almost zero'

Iran Air member of board and CCO Mohammed Reza Khoshnevisan, at the CAPA Iran Aviation Finance Summit, stated (18-Sep-2016) transit traffic in Iran is "almost zero". Tehran Iman Khomeni International Airport is "doing its best" to serve transit passengers, and has plans to develop new terminals to serve such traffic. However, the airport is not currently competitive with neighbouring states. Mr Khoshnevisan noted that connections via Tehran could potentially offer time savings between Europe and Asia of "at least two hours" compared to the Gulf States.
