International arrivals to the US down 12% in May-2009
US Department of Commerce stated international arrivals to the US fell 12% year-on-year to 3.8 million visitors in May-2009, with a 22% decline in international visitor spend to USD9.5 billion. Top five regions to the US are as follows:
- Western Europe: 935,000, -10% year-on-year;
- Asia: 431,000, -27%;
- South America: 192,000, -9%;
- Caribbean: 89,000, -12%;
- Oceania: 81,000, -2%.
