Infraero signs contract for design and construction of Fortaleza Airport remote terminal

Brazil's Infraero signed (21-Jun-2013) a BRL22.3 million (USD9.8 million) contract with UrbTopo Engineering and Construction and EPC Engineering for the design and construction of Fortaleza Pinto Martins Airport's remote terminal, to be completed by Apr-2014. The terminal will be 5400sqm and have capacity for 3.9 million passengers p/a, with the existing General Aviation Terminal to be incorporated into the new structure. The terminal will have its own check-in area, departure and arrival halls and parking area. Infraero president Gustavo do Vale said, "The remote terminal will be completely autonomous, endowed with infrastructure to receive aircraft operations and domestic arrivals and better serve our users. Today, this terminal is exclusively for domestic aviation, and when the work is finished our intention is that 95% of its operation will be dedicated to commercial aviation." Together with the ongoing expansion of T1, the airport's total capacity will be boosted to 15.5 million passengers p/a upon the completion of the works. [more - original PR - Portuguese]
