IATA: International air travel at risk due to government treatment of aviation taxes and charges

IATA DG and CEO Tony Tyler reported (04-Feb-2016) that the strong performance of international air travel in 2015 against weakening economic fundamentals "confirms the strong demand for aviation connectivity". Mr Tyler added that it is "very disappointing to see that some governments still wrongly believe that the value of taxes and charges that can be extracted from air transport outweighs the benefits-economic and social-of connectivity".
