IATA: Industry wide capacity down 63% in Sep-2020, load factors improving slightly

IATA, via its Sep-2020 Air Passenger Market Analysis, reported (04-Nov-2020) industry-wide ASKs fell 63.0% in Sep-2020, close to the 63.9% decline in Aug-2020. A number of airlines have recently announced reductions in capacity plans for the end of 2020. Europe (-64.3%) and North America (-60.0%) were the two regions in which the capacity fall accelerated in Sep-2020, while the Asia Pacific was the most resilient (-57.7%). With demand improving faster than capacity in Sep-2020, load factors improved slightly to 60.1%.
