Hong Kong Air Transport Licensing Authority attaches conditions to Hong Kong Airlines licence

Hong Kong Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA) decided (02-Dec-2019) to attach new conditions to Hong Kong Airlines' (HKA) licence with the airline to "enhance its financial situation to such a level as already required by ATLA over a period of time". ATLA could revoke or suspend the airline's licence if the airline fails to improve its financial position as required by the deadline. ATLA will announce its decision by 07-Dec-2019. ATLA met with senior management members of Hong Kong Airlines on 29-Nov-2019, and having considered the airline's latest financial position, it finds the airline's situation "extremely worrying". ATLA said it finds the airline's financial position "has deteriorated rapidly to such an extent that has severely impacted on HKA's capability in meeting its obligations as an employer to pay salary and the probability of providing a satisfactory service under its licence in respect of continuity and regularity of operation".
