Heathrow reports 3.1% drop in May-2010 pax

UK's BAA reports (10-Jun-2010) the following traffic highlights in May-2010:

• Passenger Numbers: 8.6 million, -4.5% year-on-year;
  • London Heathrow: 5.3 million, -3.1%;
  • London Stansted: 1.6 million, -1.5%;
• Cargo volume: 156,344 tonnes, +33.7%;
  • Heathrow: 136,165 tonnes, +36.1%;
  • Stansted: 17,211, +18.2%;
• Aircraft movements: 76,840, -4.8%:
  • Heathrow: 37,899, -4.4%:
  • Stansted: 12,731, -2.3%.

BAA: "BAA's passenger traffic in May was affected by the effects of the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud and by the British Airways' cabin crew industrial action. Without these impacts, it is estimated that Heathrow would have recorded an increase of 2.8% and the group as whole an increase of 0.4%," Source: Company statement, 10-Jun-2010.
