Heathrow Airport reports 2% fall in 2009 pax numbers

UK's BAA reports (11-Jan-2010) the following traffic highlights:

  • Dec-2009:
    • Passenger Numbers: 8.0 million, -0.9% year-on-year;
    • Cargo volume: 138,689 tonnes, +20%;
    • Aircraft movements: 70,117, -3.9%;
  • 2009:
    • Passenger Numbers: 107 million, -4.2% year-on-year;
    • Cargo volume: 1.5 million tonnes, -7.7%;
    • Aircraft movements: 935,016, -6.5%;

BAA: "2009 was a difficult year for our airline customers. Towards the end of the year, we saw signs of improvements, particularly at Heathrow, but there are more challenging times ahead in 2010," Colin Matthews, BAA's Chief Executive. Source: BAA, 11-Jan-2010.
