Fraport hands over new 17,000sqm cargo warehouse to Swissport

Fraport handed (16-Sep-2020) over the new cargo handling warehouse developed at Frankfurt Airport CargoCity South to Swissport. The new facility connects the airside and landside areas via separate freight yards, with 17,000sqm of floor space and capacity of 200,000 tonnes of cargo, including special, temperature-controlled zones for handling sensitive pharmaceutical products and 31 gates for trucks/vans, including five with truck docks for ULD handling. 2400sqm of office and communal space are also provided. In addition, the facility is equipped with a large-scale photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the cargo property, to be connected to the airport power grid to generate around 1.5 million kWh of electricity p/a.
