Finnair reports 'drastic' pax decline in European markets in 3Q2020

Finnair CEO Topi Manner reported (28-Oct-2020) market capacity between Helsinki and many of the airline's European markets declined "drastically" in 3Q2020. Measured in ASKs, scheduled market capacity between Helsinki and Finnair's European destinations decreased by 81.2% year-on-year. Demand on European and domestic routes remained "soft" during 3Q2020 due to COVID-19-related route and frequency cancellations as well as ongoing travel restrictions. Direct market capacity between Finnair's Asian and European destinations decreased by 85.7%, and due to travel restrictions caused by COVID-19, demand between Europe and Finnair's Asian destinations also saw a "strong" decline during the period.
