fastjet reports increased passenger sales and load factor in Tanzania in Jun-2013

fastjet reported (02-Jul-2013) passenger sales of GBP2.2 million in Tanzania in Jun-2013, an increase of 22% from May-2013. The airline attributed the increase to the reintroduction of Kilimanjaro-Zanzibar service and a change in the competitive environment in Tanzania, which resulted in an increase in load factor from 68% in May-2013 to 78% in Jun-2013. The airline carried its 200,000th passenger in Tanzania in Jun-2013 and it expects to carry at least 28,000 more in Jul-2013. fastjet chairman and CEO Ed Winter said, "I am delighted with our continued growth in Tanzania. I think we can justifiably state that we are becoming the airline of choice and are setting the standard by which other airlines should be judged...The introduction of international flights is the next big step in our development and we are all focussed on getting those routes on sale as soon as possible. Having received the required licences, we are now just working with the authorities in South Africa to get the landing slots and other final arrangements in place." [more - original PR]
