European Commission approves Vinci acquisition of ANA Aeroportos de Portugal

European Commission (EC) approved (11-Jun-2013) Vinci's acquisition of Portuguese airport operator ANA Aeroportos de Portugal. The EC said, "The Commission's investigation found that the transaction would not raise competition concerns. The merged entity would indeed be unable to shut out suppliers on the upstream markets for electrical, mechanical and climatic engineering services because of the numerous credible competitors. It would also be unable to shut out customers because it is a very small customer of electrical, mechanical and climatic engineering services." As previously reported by CAPA, Vinci acquired ANA for EUR3.08 billion in early 2013 and is committed to hub operations at Lisbon Portela Airport.
