European airports remain unsure about security technology

ACI stated that Europe's airport are still not convinced that liquid-explosive detection technology is reliable, two months ahead of the EU's moves to partially lift a five-year ban on liquids in hand luggage (New York Times, 21-Feb-2011). Director General Oliver Jankovec stated "existing technology is not fit for [this] purpose". EU transport commissioner Siim Kallas has expressed his support for simplifying the security screening boarding process at EU airports.
