El Al reports net loss in 2012, handles 4.2 million passengers

El Al reports (21-Mar-2013) the following financial highlights:

  • 3 months ended Dec-2012:
    • Operating revenues: USD463.9 million, -4% year-on-year;
    • Operating costs: USD416.7 million, +4.0%;
    • Operating profit/loss: (USD29.2 million), compared to a profit of USD8.1 million in p-c-p;
    • Net profit/loss: (USD26.5 million), compared to a loss of USD7.8 million in p-c-p;
  • 12 months ended Dec-2012:
    • Operating revenues: USD2015.6 million, -1%;
    • Operating costs: USD1702.4 million, -4%;
    • Operating profit/loss: USD11.5 million, compared to a loss of USD43.9 million in p-c-p;
    • Net profit/loss: (USD18.8 million), compared to a loss of USD49.8 million in p-c-p;
  • Passenger numbers: 4.2 million, +1%;
  • Passenger traffic (RPKs): stable;
  • Capacity (ASKs): -3.0%;
  • Load factor: 82.5%, +2.2 ppts;
  • Overall market share: 33.6%, -0.3 ppt;

El Al stated (21-Mar-2013) revenues from passengers remained almost unchanged compared to in 2011. Cargo revenues dropped largely as the result of the reduction in cargo movements and from currency fluctuations. Other Company revenue sources also showed reductions.
