Dnipropetrovsk Airport to commence preparatory airfield work, issues tender for construction

Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure announced (15-Sep-2020) the signing of a contract on preparatory work for airfield construction at Dnipropetrovsk International Airport. The work includes the dismantling of two transformer substations and is scheduled to commence on 16-Sep-2020. A tender was issued on 15-Sep-2020 for the selection of a contractor to conduct airfield construction work. The contract is valued at UAH5698.8 million (EUR171.2 million). The airport will receive a new 3200m runway with modern navigation and meteorological systems, and lighting equipment, with work to be funded from the federal budget. Private investor N S Dnipro is also scheduled to commence the construction of passenger and VIP terminals with planned capacity of up to 1000 passenger per hour. Minister of Infrastructure Vladislav Krykliy said the decision to modernise the airport was reached in 2013, however effective steps towards the achievement of the goal were not taken until 2019.
