DHL profit up 64% in Mar-2012 quarter, expects continued profit/revenue gains

DHL revenue up 4.3% - financial highlights for the three months ended Mar-2012:

  • Revenue: EUR13,364 million, +4.3% year-on-year;
    • Mail: EUR3557 million, +1.1%;
    • Express: EUR3020 million, +9.8%;
    • Global forwarding, freight: EUR3686 million, +2.4%;
    • Supply chain: EUR3409 million, +6.0%;
  • EBIT: EUR691 million, +9.9%;
    • Mail: EUR393 million, +5.4%;
    • Express: EUR231 million, +7.9%;
    • Global forwarding, freight: EUR87 million, +22.5%;
    • Supply chain: EUR91 million, +16.7%;

DHL: "Despite continuing economic uncertainties, the Group expects that the world economy will produce moderate growth this year and that the company - driven by the DHL divisions - will generate continued gains in revenues and earnings versus the prior year. Following the company's successful performance in the first three months of the year, it is confirming its guidance for 2012 and continues to forecast Group EBIT to reach between EUR2.5 billion and EUR2.6 billion. Looking beyond the current fiscal year, the company remains optimistic and expects that its earnings will continue to rise.
