DHL 2009 results exceed forecast, targets sustainable earnings improvement in 2010

Deutsche Post DHL revenue down 11.6% - financial highlights:

    • EBIT (loss): (EUR136 million), compared to a loss of EUR2,824 million in the previous corresponding period;
      • Mail: EUR503 million, +13.8%;
      • Express: (EUR375 million), compared to a loss of EUR2,206 million in the previous corresponding period;
      • Global Forwarding Freight: EUR23 million, -68.5%;
      • Supply Chain: (EUR171 million), compared to a loss of EUR1,069 million in the previous corresponding period;
    • Underlying EBIT: EUR526 million, -17.7%;
      • Mail: EUR511 million, +7.4%;
      • Express: EUR162 million, +145.5%;

    • Net profit: EUR644 million compared to a loss of EUR1,688 million in the previous corresponding period;
  • 2010 Forecast:

DHL: "For this year, the Group foresees a moderate recovery in global transport volumes. Deutsche Post DHL's reported EBIT is expected to be considerably above last year's level.
