Delta pax numbers up 1% in Aug-2013, PRASM up 6%

Delta Air Lines reports (02-Oct-2013) the following traffic highlights in Aug-2013:

  • Passenger numbers: 13.2 million, +0.9% year-on-year;
  • Revenue passenger miles: +1.8%;
  • Passenger load factor: 83.3%, +0.1 ppt;
    • Domestic: 80.8%, +0.3 ppt;
    • International: 86.8%, -0.2 ppt;
    • Latin America: 81.4%, -1.3 ppts;
    • Europe: 90.6%, +0.7 ppt;
    • Asia Pacific: 83.2%, -1.1 ppts;

Delta: “Consolidated passenger unit revenue (PRASM) for the month of September increased 5.5% year over year, with particularly strong results in the trans-Atlantic and domestic entities.  The negative impact of yen devaluation lessened from its peak in August, resulting in 1 point of system PRASM pressure for the month,” Source: Company statement, 02-Oct-2013.
