China Southern Airlines to configure A380s with 506 seats including 428 in economy

China Southern Airlines GM Marketing Zhou Junbao stated the carrier will become the first Chinese carrier to operate the A380 when it takes delivery of its first A380 in Sep-2011 (Bloomberg, 11-Jul-2011). The carrier will configure the aircraft with 506 seats: eight first class, 70 business class and 428 seats, meaning the carrier will configure the aircraft with the second highest economy class seating density among A380 operators. The carrier's director corporate strategy transformation Yang Bo stated the carrier hopes to leverage the A380 to build its brand image, and is catering for corporate clients and domestic leisure travelers with the aircraft. The carrier is scheduled to receive its second A380 by the end of 2011 and the remaining three through 1H2013, Mr Yang said.
