China Southern accepts second A380; sees better than expected ticket sales on first A380

China Southern Airlines will accept the delivery of its second A380 on 17-Dec-2011 and put it into commercial operation on 19-Dec-2011. The first and second A380s will jointly operate Beijing-Guangzhou and Beijing-Shanghai services. Once prerequisites are satisfied, China Southern Airlines will "allow its A380 airplanes to fly international routes covering Europe, USA and Australia". CFO Xu Jiebo told Bloomberg the carrier expects to gain approval to operate A380 equipment internationally "within the next few months", with the carrier in talks with the CAAC regarding the potential international routes for the aircraft. The carrier added that after nearly two months of operation of its first A380, delivered on 15-Oct-2011 and put into operation on 17-Oct-2011, ticket sales of A380 services have been "better than it is expected".
