CAAC: Chinese airlines pax up 10% in 1Q2019, cargo down 2%

CAAC reported (16-Apr-2019) the following traffic highlights for Chinese airlines:

  • Mar-2019:
    • Passengers: 53.5 million, +4.0% year-on-year;
      • Domestic: 47.5 million, +2.8%;
      • International: 6.0 million, +14.1%;
    • Passenger load factor: 83.4%, -1.1ppts;
    • Cargo: 631,000 tonnes, +2.4%;
      • Domestic: 419,000 tonnes, +1.0%;
      • International: 212,000 tonnes, +5.2%;
    • Daily aircraft utilisation: 9.1 hours, -4.2%;
  • Three months ended Mar-2019:
    • Passengers: 161 million, +9.8%;
      • Domestic: 143 million, +9.0%;
      • International: 18.1 million, +16.7%;
    • Passenger load factor: 83.7%, +0.3ppt;
    • Cargo: 1.7 million tonnes, -1.9%;
      • Domestic: 1.1 million tonnes, -2.8%;
      • International: 540,000 tonnes, stable;
