Budapest Airport CCO: LCCs have created 'new business' rather than taking market share away

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport CCO Kam Jandu, speaking at the CAPA Low Cost Long Haul Summit, argued (11-Oct-2019) the rise of LCCs has created "new business" rather than taking market share from other airlines. He explained that low cost has given travellers an affordable air alternative for those who would usually use ground transport in central Europe. Mr Jandu also noted it has migrated some business travellers to opt for LCCs on "thick routes" with only an LCC direct service.
