US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released (10-Sep-2009) its Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI), showing a 1.6% gain in Jul-2009 when compared to Jun-2009, the first monthly increase since Feb-2009 and the largest increase since Jan-2008. On a year-on-year basis, the Freight TSI fell 13.5% in Jul-2009, the largest July-to-July decline in 20 years. Meanwhile, the Passenger TSI increased 1.2% in Jul-2009 when compared to the previous month. On a year-on-year basis, the Passenger TSI decline of 5.9% in Jul-2009 was the second largest July-to-July decline in 20-years. [more – full report]
