British Airways takes delivery of its first 787-8 aircraft

British Airways announced (27-Jun-2013) it took delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 aircraft at London Heathrow Airport on 27-Jun-2013. International Airlines Group (IAG) CEO Willie Walsh welcomed the aircraft's arrival stating it "will become a mainstay of the British Airways fleet over the next few years". British Airways will enter the aircraft into service from 01-Sep-2013 on London Heathrow-Toronto service and on the London Heathrow-New York Newark sector from 01-Oct-2013. British Airways has 24 787 aircraft on order and it plans to convert 18 787 options to firm orders. The airline plans to operate 787-8, 787-9, and 787-10 variants.
