Boeing forecasts demand for almost 5000 aircraft in Southeast Asia and Oceania

Boeing presented (18-Nov-2016) its Current Market Outlook for aircraft demand in the Southeast Asia and Oceania regions over the next 20 years. Boeing forecast:

  • Southeast Asia: 3860 new aircraft, valued at USD565 billion. Traffic growth of 6.4% p/a;
  • Oceania: 1020 new aircraft, valued at USD160 billion. Traffic growth of 4.7% p/a.

Boeing forecast more than 75% of the aircraft needed in both regions will be for narrowbody aircraft, as each region continues to see a rise in the number of  LCCs as well as strong annual traffic. Airlines continue to add capacity, modernise their fleets and shift their business models to adapt to this competitive market according to Boeing Commercial Airplanes SVP of Asia Pacific and India sales, Dinesh Keskar.
