Boeing B787 could be delayed to 2012: Morgan Stanley

Morgan Stanley cautioned that Boeing may announce a seventh delay for the B787 programme (Bloomberg, 18-Nov-2010). According to Morgan Stanley, the recent fire on a B787 test aircraft may result in Boeing performing software and hardware redesigns, potentially pushing first deliveries back to 2012. Boeing has halted the flight test programme. The company has not yet announced the effect the fire will have on certification testing or the delivery schedule, but the aircraft is "nominally" scheduled for first delivery in mid-1Q2011 (AP, 18-Nov-2010).

Boeing Commercial Airplanes: "I will tell you that we don't have a lot of margin in the flight test programme. The airplane hasn't been flying for a week. We don't know when it will be resolved, so you can do the math," Randy Tinseth, VP Marketing. Source: AP, 18-Nov-2010.
