Black box chassis from AF447 found

France's air accident inquiry office, BEA, announced the chassis of the Air France flight AF447 black box has been found surrounded by debris during the first dive by an underwater remote vehicle (Reuters/irishtimes.com/AP, 27-Apr-2011). Although the chassis was found, the crash-survivable memory unit that contains the data was not. The search for the missing data module will continue as well as the separate cockpit voice recorder and other wreckage that may be useful to the investigation. The A330-203 aircraft plunged into the Atlantic Ocean off the northeast coast of Brazil on 01-Jun-2009, killing all 228 passengers and crew on board.
