Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail to take 20% of airline pax

Shandong Airlines stated the nation's domestic airlines will lose 20% of its passenger traffic flow following the opening of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail (Dazhong, 30-jun-2011). Shandong Airlines, Hainan Airlines and China Southern Airlines have separately stated they will increase long-haul services to China's north-east and north-west regions, adding they have no plans to adjust fares on services between Shanghai and Beijing.
