BALPA disappointed at bmibaby decision

BALPA General Secretary Jim McAuslan stated (14-Apr-2011) that bmibaby's decision to pull out of Cardiff and Manchester was "doubly disappointing news". "For the people of Manchester and Cardiff there will be fewer destinations to choose from as a result of bmibaby's decision. We are hoping other airlines pick up the slack in those key regional markets so that passengers are not adversely affected," Mr McAuslan said. "And this is bad news for the pilots based at those two airports, many of whom have previously been relocated as the company changes its business structure. BALPA will be pressing for affected pilots to be given proper support from the company and given the maximum number of options for their future." [more]
