B737NG successor to offer 20% economic improvement

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Chairman and CEO Jim Albaugh stated the successor to the B737NG would feature improvements and innovations in avionics, engines and aerodynamics to offer a 20% economic improvement (Puget Sound Business Journal, 24-May-2011). Mr Albaugh said approximately 70% of the engineering for any new aircraft, including a B737NG replacement and new models of the B787, will be done in-house by Boeing engineers.
