ANA senior director: Any LCC alliance with too much complexity will fail

All Nippon Airways (ANA) senior director Mio Yamamuro, speaking at the CAPA LCCs in North Asia Summit, stated (12-Jun-2018) alliances between full service airlines and alliances between LCCs are "completely, completely different". Ms Yamamuro noted that for FSC alliances services including access to lounges, miles and premium check in are important, whereas LCCs "don't provide many services, so it's about the network and the reach". She added that partnering with other LCCs "gives you a bit more reach and exposure to new markets" but cautioned that any LCC alliance with "too much complexity will fail". Ms Yamamuro said: "Maybe in five to 10 years if there is a market need and a simple solution we will see an LCC alliance".
