American Airlines reports pax traffic decline in all int'l regions except Asia Pac in Aug-2016

American Airlines Group reports (12-Sep-2016) the following consolidated traffic highlights in Aug-2016:

  • Passenger numbers: 17.6 million, -3.7% year-on-year;
    • Mainline: 12.7 million, -4.7%;
    • Regional: 4.9 million, -0.9%;
  • Passenger traffic (RPMs): -2.8%;
    • Mainline: -3.5%;
      • Domestic: -3.7%;
      • International: -3.1%;
    • Regional: +3.7%;
  • Passenger load factor: 82.9%, -3.6 ppts;
    • Mainline: 83.5%, -3.7 ppts;
      • Domestic: 84.9%, -3.7 ppts;
      • International: 81.4%, -3.4 ppts;
      • Atlantic: 79.0%, -4.8 ppts;
      • Latin America: 82.5%, -1.5 ppt;
      • Pacific: 85.7%, -5.3 ppts;
    • Regional: 78.2%, -2.9 ppts;

American Airlines Group: "The Company continues to expect its third quarter 2016 total revenue per available seat mile to be down approximately 3.0 to 5.0 percent year-over-year.
