American Airlines files temporary restraining order against Sabre

American Airlines announced (10-Jan-2011) it has filed a lawsuit in Texas state court in Tarrant County against Sabre Holdings, alleging that Sabre's recent actions taken violates agreements between American and Sabre. The carrier also filed a request for a temporary restraining order against Sabre. After a contested hearing, the court granted American's request for interim relief, to remain in effect until the court considers American's request for longer term relief. [more - American]

Meanwhile, Amadeus announced it is "actively reviewing" its US airline content agreements with the GDS claiming "the "direct connect" model only promotes fragmentation, raises costs and creates inefficiencies across the travel industry distribution chain" and will also "result in higher fares, fewer options, and the elimination of true transparency in air travel" for consumers (m-Travel.com, 10-Jan-2011).
