AirTran Airways cancels all flights to/from Atlanta on 10-Jan-2011

AirTran announced (10-Jan-2011) it has been forced to cancel all services into and out of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on 10-Jan-2011 due to historic severe weather. The airline has made this strategic decision in order to ensure the safety of its crew members and customers and to better prepare to return to normal operations on 11-Jan-2011. Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines also cancelled 1450 services, or 25% of its regular schedule, at the airport due to snow (AP, 10-Jan-2011). The storm is expected to head up the US East Coast by mid-week, threatening Philadelphia, New York and Boston with up to 12 inches of snow by late 11-Jan-2011. That could cause more major delays for US Airways, Delta, American Airlines, Continental Airlines and JetBlue. So far, 2000 services have been cancelled in the US south-east.
