Airbus: Boeing re-engine means competitive landscape stays same

Airbus Chief Commercial Officer Customers, John Leahey, said that Boeing’s decision to re-engine the B737 means competition in the narrowbody segment between the manufacturers “will continue without dramatic differences” (Gulf News, 22-Jul-2011). Airbus has almost 1200 orders and commitments for the A320neo, the re-engined version of its A320. Airbus believes the technology for an all-new narrowbody aircraft will be available around the middle of next decade.
