Air Zimbabwe still in negotiations with striking pilots

Air Zimbabwe management is still in talks with its striking pilots and cabin crew, despite the chairman's statement on 12-Sep-2010 that their employment had been terminated after they refused to return to work (The Zimbabwean, 13-Sep-2010). The staff continued their strike on 13-Sep-2010 following the 24-hour ultimatum set on the weekend. The board scheduled an emergency meeting on 14-Sep-2010 to find a solution to the crisis. Thousands of passengers face lengthy delays and cancellations after the carrier was forced to cancel all international services. The industrial action between the pilots and management is costing the carrier approximately USD500,000 per day.
