Air New Zealand passenger numbers up 5.4% in Jan-2011

Air New Zealand reports (21-Feb-2011) the following traffic highlights in Jan-2011:

  • Passenger numbers: 990,000, +5.4% year-on-year;
    • Short-haul: 834,000, +5.3%;
      • Domestic: 583,000, +2.3%;
      • Tasman/Pacific Islands: 251,000, +12.9%;
    • Long-haul: 156,000, +6.2%;
  • Passenger load factor: 87.4%, +1.4 ppts;
    • Short-haul: 84.1%, +1.5 ppts;
      • Domestic: 81.9%, -0.3 ppt;
      • Tasman/Pacific Islands: 85.1%, +2.3 ppts;
    • Long-haul: 89.6%, +1.4 ppts;

Air New Zealand: "Group-wide yields for the financial year to date were up 2.4% on the same period last year. Compared to last January, year to date Short Haul yields were down 1.5% partly due to the new seats to suit product. Long Haul yields were up by 5.9%. Removing the impact of foreign exchange, Group-wide yields were up 5.1%," Source: Company statement, 21-Feb-2011.
