Air New Zealand passenger numbers down in Sep-2011, load factor down

Air New Zealand passenger numbers down 4.8% - traffic highlights in Sep-2011:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.2 million, -4.8% year-on-year;
    • Short-haul: 1.1 million, -4.3%;
      • Domestic: 771,000, -6.5%;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 292,000, +2.2%;
    • Long-haul: 147,000, -8.8%;
  • Passenger load factor: 80.8%, -5.4 ppts;
    • Short-haul: 79.5%, -4.8 ppts;
      • Domestic: 74.6%, -8.1 ppts;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 82%, -3.2 ppts;
    • Long-haul: 82%, -5.7 ppts;

Air New Zealand: “Group-wide yields for the financial year to date were up 5.7% on the same period last year. Compared to last September, year to date Short Haul yields were up 3.1%. Long Haul yields were up by 5.5%. Removing the impact of foreign exchange, Group-wide yields were up 7.3%.” Source: Company statement, 25-Oct-2011.
