Air Berlin pilots strike called off; Air Berlin to negotiate issues with Vereinigung Cockpit

Air Berlin and Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), the German pilots' union, agreed (03-Mar-2010) to hold negotiations on unresolved issues of the framework collective agreement. As a result, the warning strikes announced by VC have been called off. VC had called for a three-hour warning strike earlier this week in its push for better working conditions for pilots at Air Berlin's charter airline unit LTU, with working hours on long-haul services at the core of the dispute. The move came a week after VC suspended strike action at Lufthansa (Reuters, 04-Mar-2010).
