ACI Europe: Pax traffic at European airports up 4% in Aug-2013
ACI Europe reported (07-Oct-2013) passenger numbers at European airports increased 3.9% year-on-year in Aug-2013. Traffic at EU airports increased 2.4%, mainly driven by significant growth in Poland, the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia & Finland, Portugal, Slovenia, Lithuania, Croatia and Malta. Meanwhile, Spain, Italy, Greece and Cyprus kept losing traffic. Passenger traffic at non-EU airports increased 9.3%, led by Turkey, Russia, Montenegro, FYROM and Serbia. However, overall freight traffic growth among European airports was flat while aircraft movements at European airports also reported a flat figure of +0.2%. The industry association stated notable growth were seen at Istanbul Ataturk (+14.3%), Saint Petersburg (+18.8%), Warsaw Frederic Chopin (+27%), Ankara (+26.4%) and Izmir (+10%). [more - original PR]
