Direct News Source

Singapore Airlines will showcase its brand-new medium-haul Business Class cabin products fitted in its new 787-10 aircraft from Wednesday 11 April to Friday 13 April at the ENEX mall, giving members of the public the chance to experience a new level of luxury.

People are welcome to visit the seat display between 8am and 5pm Wednesday and Thursday, and from 8am to 9pm on Friday. Visitors will have the opportunity to access special fares to a range of popular Singapore Airlines destinations and to try out the new Business Class seat.

Singapore Airlines is investing US$350 million in the new cabin products for the Boeing 787-10 aircraft, with the new Business Class seat converting to a 76" fully-flat bed, providing customers a new level of comfort on even the shortest flights.

Singapore Airlines is the First-to-Fly the newest member of the Dreamliner family and has become the first airline group in the world to operate all three of the 787 variants with Scoot already operating the 787-8 and the 787-9 aircraft.

The 787-10 will be deployed on flights of up to eight hours, with Osaka and Perth the first two destinations. Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President, Mr Philip Goh, today revealed that the first flight of the new 787-10 to Perth will be on Monday 7 May.

"I am pleased to announce that the 787-10 will fly to Perth for the first time on 7 May," Mr Goh said.

"This will begin another exciting chapter in our longstanding history of serving Perth as we will be the first Airline to operate the Boeing 787-10 to Perth and to Australia.

"It is apt that Perth should be the launch destination for this new aircraft as it was our first destination in Australia 51 years ago and remains an important part of our global network.

"We are looking forward to Monday 7 May and providing our Perth customers with a new level of comfort onboard the most modern aircraft in the sky."

The new 787-10s are configured with 337 seats in two classes, featuring 36 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout and 301 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.

The new cabin products feature fully-flat beds in Business Class with direct aisle access as well as ergonomically-designed Economy class seats with contour backrests and six-way adjustable headrests. All customers will enjoy personalised in-flight entertainment experience through myKrisWorld.

The inaugural flight of the new Boeing 787-10 will operate on SQ223, arriving in Perth at 14:40 on Monday 7 May and departing at 17:10 as SQ214.

From Tuesday 8 May onwards, the 787-10 will operate on SQ215/216.

Singapore Airlines is investing US$350 million to install the new medium-haul cabin products on the first 20 787-10 aircraft. It is the first and largest customer for the 787-10, with firm orders for 49 aircraft. The Airline also has a firm order with Boeing for 20 777-9s, which are due for delivery from the 2021/22 financial year.

Ahead of the launch of regular services to Perth and Osaka, the 787-10 will be operated on selected flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for crew training purposes.
