Delta introduces new domestic first class seats for A321neo fleet

In Summary

The new state-of-the-art seat design brings premium cabin features travelers enjoy on international flights to domestic travel.

Delta's new Airbus A321neo, slated to be delivered late 2020, will feature industry-leading domestic First Class seats with more privacy, more comfort, larger screens and superior stowage.

"As an industry leader in innovation, we are always looking for new ways to improve the overall customer experience," said Mauricio Parise, Managing Director of Product Development. "Customer insights were instrumental to the new design, and we spent hundreds of hours listening to customers so that we could respond with thoughtful improvements. We've completely customized every feature on the seat to create a truly unique, premium seating product for domestic First Class."

The airline partnered with RECARO and Factorydesign, using customer feedback and industry trends, to develop the next generation of domestic first-class cabin seats.

Designed to be experience-rich for customers, Delta's new seat design will bring elements of the international travel experience that customers have enjoyed on widebody aircraft to domestic routes for customers to enjoy at home.

Highlights of Delta's A321neo First Class seats include:

  • A fixed headrest allowing increased privacy and better sleep without compromising seat width or space
  • A larger and sturdier tray table, including 25%* more workspace
  • 3X* more volume for storing personal items and devices, including dedicated laptop stowage and water bottle stowage for all phases of flight
  • Thoughtful touches, such as customer-facing power ports and enhanced memory-foam cushions for added comfort

In addition to its latest seat design, Delta's new A321neo will feature a next-generation, wireless in-flight entertainment system created by the airline's in-house start-up, Delta Flight Products.

Every seat features an oversized high-definition seatback screen with personalized entertainment experiences that customers are accustomed to seeing at home or on a mobile device.

These seat enhancements are part of Delta's multi-billion dollar investment in the onboard customer experience. In the past several years, the airline has made significant enhancements including seatback entertainment systems with free entertainment, free mobile messaging, high-capacity overhead bins, access to Wi-Fi on nearly all flights, free Main Cabin meals on select flights, upgraded Main Cabin snacks, the addition of sparkling wine, an Alessi-designed collection of serviceware, Westin Heavenly In-Flight Bedding, new TUMI amenity kits, chef-curated meals paired with wines hand-selected by Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson, premium noise-canceling headphones in Delta One and Delta Premium Select and more. In 2017, Delta welcomed the A350 to its fleet - the airline's new flagship aircraft introducing the award-winning Delta One Suite and Delta Premium Select cabins.
