Direct News Source

Apr-2018 Starting June 4, 2018, the carry-on bag size limit for Alaska Airlines, Horizon, and SkyWest flights will change to 22'' x 14'' x 9''

We're giving you advance notice of this change so that you'll have time to make adjustments to your packing plans now.

Don't worry - you'll still be allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item such as a purse, briefcase, or laptop bag.

Why are we changing our carry-on bag size?

Our current carry-on bag size is larger than most other international and domestic airlines allow.

We're changing our bag size allowance to make sure that your carry-on bag will be accepted aboard all the flights within your itinerary. This will help you avoid carry-on bag size conflicts and make connections with other airlines easier during your future trips.

Best of all, we'll be able to fit more carry-on bags into the overhead bins.

What are the new carry-on bag dimensions?

Starting Monday, June 4, 2018, the maximum dimensions for your carry-on bag will be: Currently, the maximum dimensions for your carry-on bag are:
Length - 22'' (56 cm) including wheels and handles Length - 24'' (61 cm) including wheels and handles
Height - 14'' (36 cm) Height - 17'' (43 cm)
Width - 9'' (23 cm) Width - 10'' (25 cm)

We encourage you to find one of these new bag sizers before the new size limit takes effect in June, in order to check if your current carry-on bag will fit.

You can also measure your suitcase's height, length and width at home using a measuring tape; be sure to include the wheels and handle in the total measurement.
