Air traffic picks up: coming summer is expected to be busier than summer 2020

Air traffic to and from Eindhoven Airport is picking up. This summer is expected to be busier than the summer of 2020. The number of flight movements was therefore low last summer due to the global corona outbreak. This year, the number of flights from June through September is expected to be around 11,400 (2020: approximately 8,000). Next summer, by the way, there will still be about 28 percent less air traffic than before the corona pandemic (2019: 16,000). This is evident from flight schedules submitted by airlines for next summer and air traffic in previous summers.

The reason for the recovery of air traffic is the increasing number of vaccinated people and the decreasing number of corona infections in the Netherlands and many other countries. An increasing number of countries are relaxing the rules for incoming passengers. As a result, the number of flights from Eindhoven Airport will increase every week starting in June. The planes will probably not be completely full this summer.
