Singapore Changi Airport corporatised – next stop privatisation?
The Singapore Government announced the launch of the new Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Changi Airport Group (CAG) on 01-Jul-09. The two entities, formed from the corporatisation of Changi’s airport operations and restructuring of CAAS, will work together to develop further Singapore as a leading air hub and a global city. The new CAAS, which held the working name NewCAA, will focus on regulatory and strategic functions, the development of the air hub and aviation industry in Singapore as a whole, as well as the provision of air navigation services. Changi Airport Group, which had been referred to as NewCo, will focus on managing and running Changi Airport. It will also have responsibility for the foreign investments and operations of Changi Airports International.
