ZURICH (Nuance) - The Nuance Group (North America), the incumbent duty free operator at Vancouver International Airport (“YVR”), is disappointed that it has not been granted the new duty free retail concession at that airport.
Nuance has been the duty free operator at the Vancouver International Airport since 1996 and is committed to providing world class duty free operations in Vancouver until the end of the concession term which expires on May 31, 2007.
According to Richard Rendek, CEO for Nuance’s North American operation, “we have assessed the value of this concession with the benefit of 10 years of on-site experience along with the assistance of our international colleagues and have put forth a very competitive bid. Therefore, even though we are disappointed, we believe our team put forth a very intelligent and well thought out qualitative and quantitative bid submission.”
Nuance is in the enviable position of having many other duty free concessions in their North American portfolio including the Toronto Pearson International Airport duty free concession, which ranks as one of the largest in North America. Roberto Graziani, CEO for The Nuance Group, confirmed that “we are committed to aggressively pursing new growth opportunities in North America.”
Recently Nuance was awarded new contracts in Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport, which is ranked as the 18th highest passenger volume airport in the world, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, one of the fastest growing airports in North America.
